Hey, this might be useful. According to the site:
"The RSMeans Quick Cost Estimator enables you to quickly calculate an estimated value of total project cost localized to your selected area. The calculations include add-on costs itemizing low, medium & high estimates for Architectural Fees & Contractor's Overhead & Profit. "

Enter the type of project, the number of stories (for residential), the square footage, and the zip code, and it gives you a hard cost estimate including overhead and profit and architectural fees. Sounds like a useful "back-of-the-envelope" feasibility tester.

Newly released (well, yesterday): SAMHSA Grants FY 2006: Treatment Systems for Persons Who are Homeless

Quick Highlights:
The purpose of Treatment for Homeless grants is to enable communities to expand and strengthen their treatment services for homeless (including chronically homeless) individuals with substance abuse disorders, mental illness, or with co-occurring substance abuse disorders and mental illness. The goal is to link treatment services with housing programs and other services (e.g., primary care).

Eligibility is restricted by statute to community-based public and private nonprofit entities. Current Treatment for Homeless grantees are not eligible to apply under this funding announcement unless their grant ends in 2006.

And now, the part you really care about: It is expected that up to $9.7 million will be available to fund up to 25 awards in FY 2006. Of this amount, $3.7 million will be available for grants directed at chronic homelessness. Annual awards are expected to be $400,000 per year in total costs (direct and indirect) for up to 5 years.

Even better - Cost sharing is not required in this program.

Metropolitan Philadelphia Indicators Project

This project aims to promote regional thinking about our most important challenges by creating annually a report to the Greater Philadelphia region that combines two types of information. The first is a set of social, environmental, and economic indicators that track important trends in the region, particularly indicators portraying the quality of life in the region’s communities. The second type of information comes from an annual household survey conducted by Temple’s Institute for Survey Research which asks respondents across the region how they see the quality of life in their communities either improving or declining.

Rural Housing Service NOFA

The Department of Agriculture has issued a NOFA for grant funds for intermediaries to provide capacity-building technical and financial assistance to non-profit organizations (including public entities) to develop their ability to undertake housing and community development projects. Minimum grant is $50k, max is $500k. Grant funds must be matched by the intermediary.
